Vintage 1947 first edition hardcover of The Good Housekeeping Needlecraft Encyclopedia, edited by Alice Carroll, Director of the Good Housekeeping Needlework Room, published by Stamford House (Hearst Magazines, Inc.).  Features: A comprehensive mid-century reference covering sewing, embroidery, crochet, knitting, and other needlecrafts; light green cloth hardcover binding with illustrated fruit-wreath bookplate design on the front pastedown; printed by Kingsport Press, Kingsport, Tennessee.  Condition: Good pre-owned condition for a 79-year-old book — cloth cover shows wear and soiling to the corners and a faint mark on the rear cover (see photos), previous owner's name (Audrey Hadley) is inscribed in ink on the front illustrated bookplate page, and interior text pages are clean with light age-toning. No dust jacket. Binding is tight and all pages are present.
