【Authentic Work】Hideyoshi Kagao
1901-1977. A Buddhist monk of the Showa era. Born January 5, 1901. Became vice-supervisor of the Koyasan Tokyo Branch Temple. In 1949, he was dispatched to Montemurpa Prison as a chaplain for the Philippines International War Crimes Tribunal. He initiated a petition for clemency, and in 1953, he succeeded in securing the release of many prisoners. Died May 14, 1977, at the age of 76. Born in Okayama Prefecture. Graduated from Shingonshu Kyoto University (now Shuchiin University). His dharma name was also Sōnin.
【Work Condition】 The main paper is Japanese paper, hand-painted. The main paper has light soiling and numerous paste stains throughout. The mounting is in good condition.
Includes a paulownia wood box. Scroll dimensions: Height 129cm x Width 75cm.
