♪ This is a calligraphy piece by Yamagata Aritomo, a General of the Imperial Japanese Army who served as Prime Minister after the Meiji Restoration and maintained significant influence in Japanese politics.

♪ Yamagata Aritomo was born in Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. He studied at the Shoka Sonjuku academy and, after the Meiji Restoration, inspected the military systems of European countries. He worked to establish the army, implement conscription, and issue the Imperial Rescript to Soldiers, thereby developing the military system. He formed the Yamagata clique and led the political world as a Genro (elder statesman), a great figure that Yamaguchi Prefecture is proud of.
