Born in Nara Prefecture in 1929. Graduated from Kobe City College of Foreign Studies (now Kobe University of Foreign Studies), English and American Department, in 1953 and joined National City Bank. In 1957, he shifted from oil painting to copperplate etching production, receiving guidance from Shigeru Izumi. He exhibited at the Tokyo International Print Biennale in 1962. In 1965, he left National City Bank to dedicate himself to his art.
He has received high acclaim both domestically and internationally, exhibiting at the Florence International Print Biennale in 1970, the Ljubljana International Biennial of Graphic Arts in 1973, and the German International Print Exhibition in 1974. Until 1963, his motifs were freight cars and rails, and thereafter, he persistently pursued trees. His delicate works transcend mere poetic sentiment and appeal to the viewer's heart.
