Balanced Cats Paw Cowrie Lei

Planning on dancing the night away at the luau? Have a hula competition? Got a beach party to go to? Playing the uke by the ocean? This woven lei is crafted from both snakehead and cats-paw cowrie in a classic design, and in an approachable size.   With its pleasing balance to the design, not too big, not too small, it would make a great companion piece to a larger disk, if you’re looking for a wedding pair, or a parent and child set.   True Vintage, crafted on early green fishing line, dating to pre- 60’s. I’d actually guess 30’s or 40’s on this. In wonderful condition with no damage to the shells. One loose shell is found, but it’s solid. Tahitian or Polynesian, not necessarily Hawaiian, every tribe had their own patterns. This is from a larger collection, I think they’re all the same island origin but one.   Carries a slight scent, if you get very close to the center of the medallion, almost like pikake (jasmine) flowers. Perhaps it was worn routinely with them. It makes me nostalgic.
