Description
Twin Winton was a California-based pottery company that began producing their well-known cookie jars, including the popular elf and gnome designs with their distinctive wood-tone finishes, in the early 1950s. History of the Twin Winton Elf Tree Stump Bakery Cookie Jar Company Origins: Founded by twin brothers Don and Ross Winton in the 1930s in Pasadena, California. They initially produced animal figurines and other ceramics, later doing design work for major companies like Disney. Design & Era: The Elf Tree Stump Bakery cookie jar features hand-painted details, typically in a brown stain finish (though green variants exist), with a whimsical design including an elf strumming a guitar on top and another in a baker's hat peeking from a window. These designs are characteristic of the mid-century modern aesthetic and were likely produced in the 1960s to 1970s. Markings: Authentic pieces are typically marked Twin Winton, California, USA, and sometimes include location details like San Juan Capistrano where the company moved in 1964 and remained until its closure in 1976 or 1977. Collectibility: These vintage jars are highly collectible, though their value depends heavily on condition (chips, cracks, or crazing can lower the price). The last photos show where they were purchased 🥰
