Tea Ceremony Folding Fan
Features a cloud-like pattern in purple, white, and gold, with a traditional Japanese aesthetic.

◆ This is an essential item used for greetings and actions during tea ceremonies, representing a Kekkai (a boundary showing respect to the other person and distinguishing oneself from them). The basic way to use it is to place it closed in front of your knees and bow. It is used when entering the tea room or when admiring the tea utensils. Generally, men use a 6-sun (approx. 18cm) fan, and women use a 5-sun (approx. 15cm) fan.
◆ Design: Many designs feature motifs inspired by clouds floating in the sky, often referred to as Tenchi-gumo (heaven and earth clouds) or Kin-paku-gumo (gold leaf clouds).
◆ Materials: The fan surface is made of paper, and the ribs are made of bamboo. Some fans may have a weight in the joint.
◆ Price: Prices vary depending on the condition and craftsmanship, but new fans typically range from approximately ¥3,000 to ¥9,000. Used fans can be found on marketplaces like Mercari for around ¥1,000.

There is some overall signs of use, and deterioration in some areas of the corners. I have taken photos to show these as clearly as possible, so please review them before considering your purchase.

Thank you for viewing.
