The Pecos boot is a Western-style work boot developed by Red Wing. Originally derived from Spanish riding boots, Western boots are pull-on boots with side seams on both sides of the shaft, and many have a slightly pointed toe and a high heel. This was suitable for smoothly inserting and bracing the foot in the stirrup when riding a horse.
