We sell urethane sponge mats for fishing, used for ikejime (live-bloodletting) and nerve-pinning after fish are caught. Laying the mat down during the process makes the fish less likely to thrash, improving the efficiency of ikejime and helping to preserve freshness. The mat can also be used as a backing for creating fish prints (gyotaku) of fish like sea bream, as it slightly sinks when the fish is placed on it, allowing the dorsal and tail fins to float without touching the surface, making it easier to take prints. It can also be used as a sponge liner for cooler boxes.
