[Himekawa Yakuseki]
This is a type of volcanic rock that rapidly cooled and crystallized before magma emerged on the surface. It contains radium and emits a small amount of radiation, leading to discussions about its hormesis effect, which is said to suppress active oxygen, promote metabolism, improve immunity, and prevent aging, earning it the name Yakuseki (medicinal stone).

Due to its content of radioactive elements such as trace amounts of radium and thorium, it generates radioactive gases like radon and thoron.
The hormesis effect (an adaptive response that confers resistance to certain substances) is expected, and it is believed to lead to improved immunity.

What is Tourmaline in Himekawa Yakuseki?

It is said that since ancient times, residents living near the Himekawa River have used Himekawa Yakuseki as a folk remedy, believing that sleeping with the stone would cure illnesses.
(Based on historical facts, not intended to promote treatment) The large black spots are tourmaline, and stones like this are rarely found in the Himekawa River.
Tourmaline has the special property of emitting ions when subjected to pressure or temperature.
