Igusa has properties such as fragrance, deodorization, air purification, humidity control, and heat insulation. The tatami surface uses undyed soil igusa, finished with a 2x2 weave. This weave has narrow gaps and few unevennesses, and the warp threads do not protrude, resulting in a flat, smooth surface that clearly expresses the natural color of igusa, giving it a lustrous and beautiful appearance. Undyed soil igusa is healthier in its natural state, maximizes the benefits of igusa, and is less prone to stains and mold. For this reason, only long and firm, high-grade igusa is used. Each stalk is thick with a dense surface layer and fine fibers, providing excellent elasticity and durability. You can enjoy the beauty that increases with age as you use it for a long time.
The clean, borderless design creates a sense of spaciousness and maximizes the natural texture and color of the igusa, creating a natural atmosphere. The thickness is such that the difference in height is not noticeable, making it easy to match with flooring and blend into both Japanese and Western-style rooms. Simply changing the direction of the weave creates a subtle yet elegant checkered pattern. By arranging these mats, you can easily create a Japanese-style tatami space in a corner of your living room, bedroom, around your sofa or bed, or as a play area for children.
Igusa is breathable and non-sticky, keeping it fresh and smooth to the touch regardless of the season. When placed indoors, it reduces odors such as cigarette smoke, pet odors, sweat, and foot odor, while spreading a calming fragrance to create a relaxing and healing space. It also resolves dampness and maintains a comfortable humidity level, which is gentle on the body, keeping you cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The core material is a non-woven fabric board + EPE board, which is lightweight and offers excellent heat insulation, breathability, sound absorption, sound insulation, and durability. In addition to the elasticity of igusa, it also provides excellent cushioning, making it comfortable to sit or lie on. You'll want to relax and roll around on it.
