In Okinawa, it has long been called Nee-bui grass and was traditionally brewed into a tea or the stems were eaten for sleeplessness. While the actual effects are unknown, it is considered a medicinal herb, so you may want to try it. Beautiful orange flowers bloom once a year. The flowers are also edible and can be used in blanched dishes or as a colorful accent in cooking.
The plants will grow and multiply naturally. Planting them in a flower garden will add beautiful greenery as an ornamental plant.
