【About Ibi River Stones】
Ibi River stones, as the name suggests, are suiseki found in the Ibi River.
The history of Ibi River stones is quite old, considered to date back to the Muromachi period, the era when suiseki originated, as they are mentioned alongside Kamo River stones and Seta River stones.
After the construction of the Tokuyama Dam, regular water releases have controlled the water level, preventing the river from becoming turbulent. Furthermore, the increased water volume has eliminated the riverbed, making it said that suiseki can no longer be found.
Therefore, it is unlikely that new, high-quality Ibi River stones will be discovered in the future, and the only way to obtain them is to acquire them from someone else.
