Small Plate Set - Artist: Tetsuo Nakao - Set of 5 - For Tea Sweets or Small Dishes
Ginga-yu (Galaxy Glaze) Serving Plate
(Reference price on Rakuten Shopping: ¥19,800)
I am selling unused tableware that I collected due to moving from a detached house to an apartment.
This is an onigiri plate (small bowl) made with Ginga-yu (Galaxy Glaze), developed by ceramic artist Tetsuya Nakao of Gyokuhou-gama (玉峰窯) in Arita Town, Saga Prefecture.
Features and Appeal:
Unique Beauty Reminiscent of the Universe: Fired at high temperatures of around 1250°C, the metallic elements in the glaze crystallize during the cooling process, creating a pattern like a galaxy with twinkling stars.
One-of-a-Kind Appearance: The way the crystals form varies depending on slight changes in kiln temperature, climate, and materials, making each piece completely unique and impossible to replicate.
Practical Design: The rounded triangular shape, reminiscent of an onigiri (rice ball), is a distinctive feature. It is widely used as a plate for Japanese sweets or as a small bowl for side dishes. You can explore various sizes and colors of works on the official online shop, Ginga-yu Gyokuhou-gama, etc.
