Toso-ki is indispensable for the New Year's celebratory meal. Toso is a medicinal sake drunk on New Year's Day to ward off evil spirits for the year and wish for longevity. It has been said since ancient times that If one person drinks this, the family will be free from illness, and if the family drinks this, the whole region will be free from illness. Otoso is drunk on New Year's Day, wishing for the family's health and praying for longevity. Drinking from a high-quality toso-ki set will greatly enhance the New Year's atmosphere. The design is simple and elegant, yet festive. This compact set includes a choshi (sake ewer) and three sakazuki (cups) needed for drinking, along with a tray. Although compact, it includes all the necessary items. It's great that you can enjoy it easily without being too formal. A simple paper folding screen is also included. The material is resin with a urethane coating finish, so it can be used casually and will be useful every year. While the order of drinking varies by region, it is traditionally considered formal to drink starting from the youngest person. This is because otoso symbolizes passing on youthful vitality to elders, implying an extension of lifespan. Since children cannot drink alcohol, they can participate by pretending to drink to feel the atmosphere.
