Kotaro Ikura Blue-White Porcelain Faceted Pitcher Sake Server Tea Ceremony Utensil Tomobako Tokkuri Katakuchi
Kotaro Ikura
Kotaro Ikura continues his pottery activities in Yagyu, the village of the sword saint, where the scenery of Nara's mountainous villages unfolds. Born as the eldest son of the Yagyu-yaki kiln, which has been passed down through generations, he has been involved in pottery techniques suited to each era. Mr. Ikura's works are characterized by the beauty of his celadon porcelain with its transparent glaze and the delicate curves created by carving. The transparency achieved through the Hotaru-de (firefly technique), where bisque-fired pottery is pierced with openwork and the glaze covering the holes allows light to pass through, is delicate, beautiful, and full of elegance.
