1940s Wartime, Writing Confirmed, Ink-Stopping Fountain Pen, Pre-War, Flex Nib, Usable
A 1940s Japanese-made fountain pen with a steel nib. The color is a brownish black.
This is a typical balanced ebonite barrel, ink-stop type fountain pen from the pre-war, wartime, and post-war era.
Although it is an ink-stop type, the inner shaft cannot be removed from the rear knob, making it impossible to replace the rear packing. The previous owner appears to have modified the rear valve to ensure constant ink flow.
Please consider it to be in the same condition as a modern cartridge pen converted to an eyedropper.
As shown in the photos, it writes normally.
It is sufficiently durable for daily use as long as the rear knob is not opened.
For your peace of mind, silicone grease has been applied to the screw threads of the rear knob.
This is an ebonite body steel flex nib 1940s prewar/wartime/postwar Japanese eyedropper fountain pen manufactured by WELL. The ink stop mechanism does not work, as the rear seal cannot be replaced. However, the previous owner modified the plunger to allow perpetual ink flow, so this pen can be used as a regular eyedropper with the same reliability as an eyedropper conversion from a modern cartridge pen.
