This is a popular nib that ranks among the top 4 recommended dip pens for penmanship practice.

Newm color:
This is a fine-tipped type processed with aluminum. It is softer and smoother than chrome-colored nibs.
Another characteristic of the Newm color is that it has less ink blotting and is resistant to wear.

This fine-tipped nib is easy for beginners to handle and produces mellow lines, making it popular among enthusiasts.

It is said that several teachers at the Japan Penmanship Study Association also favor this pen.

The name varies by brand:
- Nikko: ◆Spoon Nib
- Tachikawa: ◆Spoon Pen
- Zebra: ◆Tama Pen

LION, famous for office supplies, also produced them, but they are no longer made.
The manufacturing and sale of nibs were discontinued over 20 years ago (Heisei 8).

Currently, the Japanese nib brands available are Tachikawa, Nikko, and Zebra.
Nikko's brand was inherited by Tachikawa, so the manufacturing companies are now only Tachikawa and Zebra.
Nikko nibs are a popular brand, supported by teachers at the Japan Penmanship Study Association.

There are also stories that older items perform better.
During the period of high economic growth, around Showa 60, the production of dip pens was an astronomical figure of 1 million gross (1 gross = 144 pieces), but government offices and banks also transitioned to ballpoint pens with the changing times.

The nibs were crafted by artisans using machines, but it is said that they still use the same machines from that era. As the number of artisans has decreased, I have heard that the skills of the artisans from that time were higher.

Furthermore, Newm-colored nibs have little deterioration and are said to retain their original performance even today.
However, they are plated with tin, etc., and may become discolored in some cases, but this does not affect their performance.

I also enjoy practicing penmanship, and I change nibs depending on what I am writing, but Newm also has a unique writing feel.
