This is an ethanol-preserved specimen of the deep-sea fish, the oarfish (tentaihata).
The oarfish is a relative of the ribbon fish and, like the ribbon fish, is a deep-sea fish that is rarely caught.
This specimen was collected on October 13, 2020, at Naiura Port, Ise Town, Watarai District, Mie Prefecture.
It is a juvenile specimen measuring approximately 13 cm in length.
Although this is a very rare specimen, it is being listed for organizational purposes.
