Black diamond, known in Japanese as Kongo-seki (diamond), is a natural stone considered the hardest based on experimental results. This beautiful black diamond gets its black color from inclusions of iron ore, graphite, and other minerals within the diamond.

Raden (mother-of-pearl inlay) is a decorative technique where the nacreous layer of shells like nacreous shell or abalone is polished with a whetstone, cut to a uniform thickness, and then applied or inlaid. It utilizes the beautiful blue and white iridescence of the shell when light hits it. It is one of the most beautiful crafts among traditional arts.

The crisp obi fabric is woven with horizontal gradations of pearl white and pearl bluish-purple. The overall pattern woven in white is a karakusa (arabesque) motif. The taiko (drum) part is adorned with black diamonds, raden, and gold leaf, giving it a luxurious feel.

Can be worn with Iromuji, Tsukesage, Houmongi, etc.
