This is the highest grade of Janome (snake's eye) umbrella, with a slender and delicate construction. Habutae refers to the high-grade type of Janome umbrella. It uses a durable canopy material called Habutae, which consists of thinly processed handmade Japanese paper and thin silk fabric layered over 48 light bamboo ribs. The slender wooden handle, finished in black lacquer, features a rattan wrap on the grip and a metal ferrule.
