Started with a few T-shirts designed by board shaper Shawn Stussy for his friends.
Putting his name Stussy on the T-shirts became popular,
and the bright, contemporary designs matched the California beach culture,
becoming a topic of conversation among young people. Popularity spread to rappers and skaters,
and eventually it was sold in boutiques and specialty markets.
The secret to its popularity is said to be that the stussy font was called Shawn Font
and was both basic and fresh.
