Description
This is a used Yamaha E♭ Cornet (Soprano Cornet) YCR-6610T.
I checked Yamaha's website, but there are no current models with a 6-digit model number other than B♭ cornets, so I believe this is likely a professional model. (I say likely because I couldn't find it on the website.)
I don't know if the previous owner did it themselves or had it done cheaply and carelessly, but it appears the tubing from the mouthpiece receiver to the 3rd valve, and the lower part of the 2nd valve slide have been removed and reattached. There are obvious solder joints protruding, and some residue that might be from a sticker to prevent solder adhesion. It plays without issue, but it's at a level that even a non-repairman would notice.
The slight defect refers to the fact that the 2nd valve slide was not adjusted after being soldered, so while it does come out, it is quite stiff. Since it was soldered carelessly, it might come off again, so I recommend having it adjusted first after purchase.
All tuning slides and valves move very smoothly, except for the issue with the 2nd valve slide mentioned above. There are no dents, but there are polishing scratches throughout.
The good points of this model are that it's likely a professional model at an affordable price, the 3rd valve trigger is the same easy-to-operate lever type as on current Xeno B♭ cornets, and the tubing from the mouthpiece receiver to the 3rd valve has a gentle curve, giving it a high-end feel.
I've attached corks to prevent the lever from hitting the body.
The current YCR-8620S has a list price of ¥440,000, and if you were to consider Besson, the Sovereign has a list price of ¥689,700. These are expensive, and E♭ cornets themselves are rarely available used.
For those looking for an E♭ cornet for a British-style brass band, how about this opportunity? I'm not sure if it's used in orchestras, but it's also recommended for those who only use it occasionally but don't want a cheap model!
A professional model double case for trumpet is included. (I'm not sure if this is the official case.)
Shipping is included, and I plan to ship via Kuroneko Yamato.
Thank you.
