These reeds are tested, finished to a playable condition, sterilized with ethanol, and then further sterilized with 254nm UV light before delivery.

The blade sides are nearly straight, with a slight convex shape near the tip, differing slightly from the Thunemann's overall concave curve.
This combination appears to provide the stable high-register response and dark, rounded tone required by principal players.
