Powell Sonare Piccolo PS-500 with 2 Headjoints

This is a Powell Sonare PS-500 piccolo.
This instrument was made when the body tube was still manufactured in Taiwan.
The headjoint was made at the Powell headquarters in Boston, USA, and is engraved with the Powell logo.
(This is not the current PS-850 model sold overseas.)

The headjoint is made of Powell's proprietary laminated material called Diamondwood, which uses American hardwood. It maintains the natural tone, feel, and color of wood while being durable.

The body tube is made of resin, so there is no need to worry about cracks, making it easy to handle.
Furthermore, it comes with a headjoint made of the same resin, which can be used with peace of mind when playing outdoors.

Although the instrument uses a lot of resin, the sound produced when playing is truly Powell!
I have played many other manufacturers' resin instruments, and I currently own several, but I feel a significant difference in the amount and quality of overtones in the sound.

The instrument plays well from the lowest to the highest notes, but as it was a backup instrument, it has not been adjusted recently. Therefore, it may be best to use it after making adjustments and replacing pads as needed.

Currently, the Sonare model piccolo is not listed in Powell's domestic catalog. However, when it was handled a few years ago, it cost over 600,000 yen (this is the price of the current PS-850 model. I have included a photo of the price list from that time for reference).

The cheapest Powell piccolo generally available for purchase in Japan is the Signature model, with a list price of over 970,000 yen including tax.

I am gradually listing my collection to raise funds, but I sincerely hope it will go to someone who will cherish and use it.
