Jamiroquai emerged from the acid jazz scene of the early 90s and, despite being a new artist, generated buzz by signing a major eight-album deal with Sony Music UK.
Following the success of their debut album, expectations were high, but recording proved challenging. This album, which reflects the trends of the London and Tokyo club scenes at the time, also incorporates elements of Brazilian music and introspective spiritual jazz, and is still highly regarded today.
After the release of this album, a large-scale Japan tour was conducted, thrilling fans across the country.

This album is considered to have the most complex songwriting among the band's works to date, and frontman Jay Kay himself calls it one of the most creative and complete albums. However, following the success of their debut, the band experienced second album syndrome, and production was difficult. Jay Kay said, I realized that I had suddenly stopped being homeless and had everything I needed, so I was creating problems for myself and then writing about them. The song Space Cowboy, written during this process, reflects the long and dark recording sessions but was a significant catalyst for completing the work.
