2019 Warp Records Beat Records

This is Bibio's first studio album since A Mineral Love in 2016.
Stephen Wilkinson, also known as Bibio, is responsible for the songwriting, lyrics, vocals, and playing almost all the instruments himself. On this album, he incorporates a wealth of influences, including 60s and 70s style folk music, particularly British and Irish acid folk, and the dreamy harmonies of the American West Coast, which he states have greatly influenced him. At the same time, one can also glimpse homages to soul music artists like Dionne Warwick and Dee Dee Sharp, sampled by his revered J Dilla and Madlib. This time, he also experimented with instruments like the mandolin and violin, adding a new dimension to his music with the resulting folk-inspired melodies. With the lead single Curls already generating significant buzz, a limited edition cassette tape has been released. It includes bonus tracks and is a limited run of 200 copies in a purple colorway.

My music, for the most part, is consciously crafted, inspired by the inner world of dreams experienced in a fully awake state. However, for the past four years, I've been spending more time than ever in the English countryside, walking, taking photos, listening, and recording, and this has undoubtedly influenced my way of thinking and self-expression. In the studio, I try to evoke both the beauty of nature and the sadness of seeing it spoiled. I am also influenced by memories, childhood feelings, and pastoral landscape paintings by old masters.
