Here, I will describe this specific unit and the reason for its sale.
Subjectively speaking, as the title suggests, this unit is in a condition close to new, with an almost miraculous lack of scratches or dents. The precision and care of Yamaha's craftsmanship at the time feel incomparable to today.
While I was pursuing the cupronickel slide series, I happened upon this instrument and treasured it. Its beauty makes me sigh every time I open the case.
In terms of condition, for example, as seen in the third photo, there are faint ring-like marks that look like dried water spots, and on the magnified photo of the bell, there were spots that looked like dirt on the rim, which mostly came off with wiping (a slight trace remains). These are the kinds of things that would have to be pointed out as flaws. I have pursued the cupronickel slide series, but I have never encountered a unit with such infrequent use.
Objectively, the interior of the case retains its new-like luster, the cleaning rod is unused, and the inspection sheet, price tag, and bag for accessories are all as they were originally. Only the grease seems more recent.
Of course, it is not unused; there are faint scuffs from the metal on the slide connection, and overall, there are very fine, hair-like scratches, and there may be other scratches or dents that I have not noticed. The exterior of the case is in line with its age. Please understand that calling it suitable for display is purely my subjective opinion. However, I believe it is in better condition than the one in the link below.

I consider the 651 to be a heavy model, but it is much easier to play compared to the LINE 1000 I described in a past listing. The slide is average among the eight cupronickel slide series instruments I own, with a slight shari (gritty) feel, which is why I have lowered the price as a drawback. However, the cupronickel series has an even tighter slide than the 697Z, so this may be unavoidable (even after entrusting it to a top-tier repairer, it did not improve).
