UPSCALE 1940s' BLACK FELT WIDE BRIM HAT + OSTRICH FEATHERS & RHINESTONE

This is a magnificent black felt wide brim hat from the fashionable 1940s'! The round crown is surrounded by a wide brim which is bent so it creates a V effect at one side of the front. The crown is also trimmed with a wide black grosgrain band around it, which ends in a large bow at the back. The bow secures a tall black ostrich feather to which a rhinestone has been attached at the top. This hat definitely stands out as very elegant, and a piece of fashion history.  The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling & artificial flowers were popular.   Printed inside the hat: Made In USA 100% Wool  There is no designer label, indicating it was a custom-made creation.  Please keep in mind that you are buying a vintage hat, not new nor perfect! This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years.
