Description
Born in Saitama Prefecture in 1968. Fascinated by stars since childhood, he studied astronomy and painted pictures of stars. In 1990, he graduated from the Graphic Design Department of Tokyo Designer Gakuin. His complete constellation map Fantastic Starry Night received the Excellent Grand Prize for Graduation Production from the same school and became a bestseller for constellation posters. In 1991, as a new endeavor in painting, he introduced computers, which he had been deeply interested in, and began using them for idea sketching and composition. In 1995, he completed the groundbreaking Digital Painting technique, where all aspects of painting, from composition to coloring, finishing, and printing, are done entirely on a computer. In 1997, he released the Celestial Exploring series, inspired by an ideal world nurtured by humanity 3,000 years in the future. In 1999, he released the the Zodiac series, inspired by the 12 constellations of Greek mythology. In 2000, he won first place in the painting division of the National Digital Art Contest 2000 hosted by Hewlett-Packard in the US for his work Ambiente. In the same year, he released Scorpius (Scorpio), completing the Zodiac series. In 2002, he released the Hoshiten Biyori series, inspired by constellations seen in Japan's four seasons. In 2003, he released the Night on the Galactic Railroad series, inspired by Kenji Miyazawa's Night on the Galactic Railroad. His art book Starry Tales was published. He is currently rapidly gaining popularity as a pioneer of exceptionally unique storytelling and ultra-precise digital fine art.
