Kameda-jima is characterized by its pleasant texture and beautiful patterns woven with indigo dye.
It is a pre-dyed cotton textile where the threads are dyed first to create stripes. Originally made as work clothes for farmers, it is water-resistant and becomes more familiar to the touch the more it is washed. It has a good feel against the skin due to double washer processing and sun drying, and is also machine washable at home. It is said to be easy to sew as the needle passes through smoothly during stitching.
