Vintage Gorham Japan Cardinal Feeding Baby Porcelain Music Box Beautiful Works

This tender vintage porcelain music box, crafted for Gorham in Japan, captures a moment of pure devotion in nature—a brilliant red cardinal leaning lovingly toward its nest, offering a tiny green morsel to its eager baby bird. The scene is sculpted with lifelike detail: the glossy red plumage, the textured bark of the tree, the soft brown feathers of the nestling, and the delicate leaves and blossoms at the base. When wound from below, the hidden music box awakens, playing the familiar melody from The Sound of Music—the cheerful tune of “Do-Re-Mi”—a perfect accompaniment to this nurturing tableau. A small metal slider switch on the back allows you to start or silence the melody with a gentle touch. Measuring 4.75 wide × 3.75 deep × 6 tall and weighing 1 lb 2 oz, this piece feels substantial and beautifully made. It is both a heartfelt symbol of parental care and a charming decorative treasure for collectors of birds, music boxes, or fine Japanese porcelain artistry. A sweet moment of love and song, preserved forever. Circa: 1970s–1980s
