Who We Are

Good Works Food Shelf has been actively participating in the fight to end hunger since 2010. The food shelf distributes high-quality food and household products in a guest choice model.

We offer food to the residents of Minneapolis and neighboring areas by providing bagged groceries to those experiencing meal gaps.

Good Works is partner with The Second Harvest Food Bank, The Food Group, and Hunger Solutions

Good Works Food shelf is one of the programs run by Rescue Now Services Inc., a nonprofit organization tackling poverty in Minneapolis, Minnesota and beyond. Donations made to Good Works are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.

Mission

The Problem

The effects of poverty on an individual or family are devastating. Individuals and families living in poverty earn lower income, experience homelessness or live in sub standard housing, experience hunger or malnutrition, are unemployed or under employed, have limited access to education, lack of access to health care and are at a greater risk of health challenges.

Our Solution

We recognize that the solution to poverty is multi-dimensioned. We believe that individuals and families in poverty want to get out of it, however there will always be competing priorities for the use of their limited resources. Good Works food Shelf provides a temporary solution to one of the challenges- hunger. As people continue to work towards the struggle to make ends meet and stretch their dollars we want to give them one less thing to worry about feeding their families.

We recognize that this approach is not a permanent solution, but it’s our way of sharing their burden and helping families get to self-sufficiency quicker.
